Tidentity - coastal design, Tairua

‘Tidentity’ is a landscape concept that connects  this site and its occupants to the land and the wider landscape through the language of tidal rhythms and patterns.

Positioned between two tides, two water bodies, two distinct ecologies. One, placid, slow, fertile and ruled by the ebb and flow of soapy water. The other, raw, open, unforgiving yet exhilarating!

The tidal rhythms and patterns are ingrained in the DNA of this land.

This is cohesively communicated throughout the design of this garden. At every turn you are being subtly reminded of This Place through shapes and forms, patterns and rhythms of hardscapes and softscapes. The plant palette  connects us to the historical layer of estuary fringes a layer that was once present on this very piece of land.

‘Tidentity’ is designed to keep one present, connected and aware…all the  while providing its occupants with a plethora of flexible spaces  to socialise or retreat to. It’s designed to quietly offer it’s healing green embrace!

Currently in progress (2024/25).
